Ebola Is An International Health Emergency: WHO

GENEVA – Ebola has been described by the World Health Organisation(WHO) as an international health emergency.

  After a 2-day emergency meeting held behind a closed doors,WHO suggested global travel should be limited to reduce its spread and solicited for a financial aid to help affected countries.

  WHO director Dr Margaret Chan described the epidemic as the most severe in decades.Some of the afflicted Africans have adopted local means to limit its spread like the use of road blocks to limit travel to Monrovia by the soldiers in Liberia’s Grand Cape Mount province.Night clubs and entertainment venues were closed as two towns in Sierra Leone-Kailahun and Kenema were quarantined yesterday.


  According to WHO,Ebola at least 932 people have lost their lives since the outbreak of the deadly virus in Guinea this year.A Spanish priest and a nun were reported yesterday to have contracted the virus.

  Some people have suggested that US should send experimental Ebola drug ZMapp serum to African indigenes but President Barrack Obama said it is too early to send the drug to Africa.
