All is not well at the Southern Sun hotel, Ikoyi, Lagos.
Staff of the hotel staged a protest yesterday over what they deem to be discriminatory practices by the management of the hotel.
From posters they were carrying and others they pasted to the floor of the lobby area, the disgruntled staff claimed that the hotel management pays staff a paltry N21 000, just N3000 more than the Nigerian minimum wage, an amount that is paid to even those that have worked for 7 years.
The workers further claim that retiring staff are not paid gratuity and suggested that the practice smacks of discrimination against Nigerians, with some of the banners reading "No room for racism".

As of the time of filling this report, the lobby area of the hotel had been taken over by the protesting staff, and this has severally disrupted business activities in a hotel regarded as ranking among the best in the upscale Ikoyi area of Lagos,  Nigeria.
The hotel, according to sources is a South African owned hotel.
