Senate passes final reading on Bill to establish National Institute for Cancer Research & Treatment

The Senate on Tuesday passed the final reading on the bill to establish the National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment. Once established, the Cancer Research Institute will provide a holistic national strategy for dealing with cancer treatments, and will serve to reorient the public on preventable measures. 

According to Senate President, Bukola Saraki, since 2013, Nigeria has recorded more than 2 million cases of Cancer, with up to 500,000 cases of the disease being registered each year.

"As someone who has suffered the pain of losing a loved one to Cancer, it gives me great joy to announce that today at the Senate, we passed for its third and final reading, the Bill to establish the National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment," he concluded.
