Antonio Conte's future at Chelsea has been plunged into doubt amid reports of a fall-out with club chiefs.

The Italian enjoyed an outstanding first season as Blues boss, guiding them to the Premier League title and into the final of the FA Cup.

But Conte has stalled on a signing a new long-term contract and it is now being claimed in the Italian media that there are tensions behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge.

The 47-year-old is said to be unhappy with the club's lack of investment in the transfer market this summer.

He believes a number of high-quality additions are needed as Chelsea prepare to return to the Champions League next season.

Conte also reportedly wants a 'direct line of communication to owner Roman Abramovich' and greater control over the recruitment of staff.

There also appears to be a difference opinion within the club over Diego Costa.

Conte has told Costa via text message he can leave this summer, but the Chelsea hierarchy are keen to keep hold of the striker.

Chelsea have yet to comment on the reports but will not want to lose the popular Italian.
