To ensure security of lives and properties during the ongoing Akwa Ibom LGA Poll, the Akwa State police command have blocked the Cross River State border, starting from Itu bridge and other borders that linked the oil rich Akwa Ibom with other states.

While some motorists, commuters and clergymen are lamenting on the traffic gridlock caused by the blockage, the police on the other hand have blamed them for not listening to news as the information  was passed since Thursday evening by the command.

It could be recalled that the Akwa Ibom state police command had on Thursday this week issued a press release, stating that movement of persons and vehicles across the state will be restricted from 12mid-night of Friday 1st December 2017 to 6:00PM of Saturday 2nd December 2017, except personnel on essential duties who must carry their valid identification cards.

Meanwhile, some vehicles conveying corpse for funeral service  were asked to open the coffin before they were allowed to pass.
