Psalm 34 God Speaks Today
Praise to the goodness of the Lord
(1) Of David, when he withdrew from the presence of Abimelech, before whom he had pretended to suffer an attack of madness.
34 (2) I will bless the Lord at all times;
my lips will always praise him.
2 (3) I am proud of the Lord;
Hear it and rejoice, humble men!
3 (4) Let us praise together one voice
the greatness of the name of the Lord.
4 (5) I turned to the Lord, and he answered me,
and delivered me from all my fears.
5 (6) Those who look to the Lord
are radiant with joy
and will never be disappointed.
6 (7) This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him
and delivered him from all his anguish.
7 (8) The angel of the Lord protects and saves
those who honor the Lord.
8 (9) Try, and see that the Lord is good.
Happy is the man who trusts in him!
9 (10) Honor the Lord, those consecrated to him,
for nothing will be lacking to those who honor him.
10 (11) The rich become poor, and suffer hunger,
but those who seek the Lord will never lack any good.
11 (12) Come, my children, and listen
to me: I am going to teach you to honor the Lord.
12 (13) Do you want to live a long time?
Do you want to enjoy life?
13 (14) For hold your tongue from speaking evil,
and let your lips never tell lies.
14 (15) Get away from evil, and do good;
Seek peace and pursue it.
15 (16) The Lord cares for honest men
and listens to their cries.
16 (17) The Lord is against the evildoers,
to erase their memory from the earth.
17 (18) The Lord heeds the cry of the righteous man,
and delivers him from all his troubles.
18 (19) The Lord is near, to save those whose heart is broken
and they have lost hope.
19 (20) The honest man goes through many evils,
but the Lord delivers them from all of them.
20 (21) He protects all bones;
not one will break you.
21 (22) The wicked are killed by their own evil;
those who hate the honest man will be punished.
22 (23) But the Lord saves the life of his servants;
Those who trust in him will not be punished!
