Today's bible teaching: My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him

 Psalm 62

1
Psalm 62 For the director of music. For Jeduthun. A psalm of David.
1
My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him.
2
He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
3
How long will you assault a man? Would all of you throw him down-- this leaning wall, this tottering fence?
4
They fully intend to topple him from his lofty place; they take delight in lies. With their mouths they bless, but in their hearts they curse. Selah
5
Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him.
6
He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
7
My salvation and my honor depend on God [1] ; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
8
Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. Selah
9
Lowborn men are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie; if weighed on a balance, they are nothing; together they are only a breath.
10
Do not trust in extortion or take pride in stolen goods; though your riches increase, do not set your heart on them.
11
One thing God has spoken, two things have I heard: that you, O God, are strong,
12
and that you, O Lord, are loving. Surely you will reward each person according to what he has done.

Today's bible teaching: Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.

     Psalm 2

    1
    Psalm 2
    1
Why do the nations conspire [1] and the peoples plot in vain?
    2
The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the LORD and against his Anointed One. [2]
    3
"Let us break their chains," they say, "and throw off their fetters."
    4
The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.
    5
Then he rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,
    6
"I have installed my King [3] on Zion, my holy hill."
    7
I will proclaim the decree of the LORD: He said to me, "You are my Son [4] ; today I have become your Father. [5]
    8
Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.
    9
You will rule them with an iron scepter [6] ; you will dash them to pieces like pottery."
    10
Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth.
    11
Serve the LORD with fear and rejoice with trembling.
    12
Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

Today's bible teaching:Offer right sacrifices and trust in the LORD

       Psalm 4

      1
Psalm 4 For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm of David.
      1
Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; be merciful to me and hear my prayer.
      2
How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame [1] ? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods [2] ? Selah
      3
Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD will hear when I call to him.
      4
In your anger do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. Selah
      5
Offer right sacrifices and trust in the LORD.
      6
Many are asking, "Who can show us any good?" Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD.
      7
You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound.
      8
I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.

Today's prayer: Deliver my life from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dogs

         Psalm 22

        1
Psalm 22 For the director of music. To [the tune of] "The Doe of the Morning." A psalm of David.
        1
My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from the words of my groaning?
        2
O my God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, and am not silent.
        3
Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One; you are the praise of Israel. [1]
        4
In you our fathers put their trust; they trusted and you delivered them.
        5
They cried to you and were saved; in you they trusted and were not disappointed.
        6
But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by men and despised by the people.
        7
All who see me mock me; they hurl insults, shaking their heads:
        8
"He trusts in the LORD; let the LORD rescue him. Let him deliver him, since he delights in him."
        9
Yet you brought me out of the womb; you made me trust in you even at my mother's breast.
        10
From birth I was cast upon you; from my mother's womb you have been my God.
        11
Do not be far from me, for trouble is near and there is no one to help.
        12
Many bulls surround me; strong bulls of Bashan encircle me.
        13
Roaring lions tearing their prey open their mouths wide against me.
        14
I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My heart has turned to wax; it has melted away within me.
        15
My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth; you lay me [2] in the dust of death.
        16
Dogs have surrounded me; a band of evil men has encircled me, they have pierced [3] my hands and my feet.
        17
I can count all my bones; people stare and gloat over me.
        18
They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing.
        19
But you, O LORD, be not far off; O my Strength, come quickly to help me.
        20
Deliver my life from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dogs.
        21
Rescue me from the mouth of the lions; save [4] me from the horns of the wild oxen.
        22
I will declare your name to my brothers; in the congregation I will praise you.
        23
You who fear the LORD, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, honor him! Revere him, all you descendants of Israel!
        24
For he has not despised or disdained the suffering of the afflicted one; he has not hidden his face from him but has listened to his cry for help.
        25
From you comes the theme of my praise in the great assembly; before those who fear you [5] will I fulfill my vows.
        26
The poor will eat and be satisfied; they who seek the LORD will praise him-- may your hearts live forever!
        27
All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations will bow down before him,
        28
for dominion belongs to the LORD and he rules over the nations.
        29
All the rich of the earth will feast and worship; all who go down to the dust will kneel before him-- those who cannot keep themselves alive.
        30
Posterity will serve him; future generations will be told about the Lord.
        31
They will proclaim his righteousness to a people yet unborn-- for he has done it.

Today's prayer: O LORD my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all who pursue me

           Psalm 7

          1
Psalm 7 A shiggaion of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning Cush, a Benjamite.
          1
O LORD my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all who pursue me,
          2
or they will tear me like a lion and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me.
          3
O LORD my God, if I have done this and there is guilt on my hands--
          4
if I have done evil to him who is at peace with me or without cause have robbed my foe--
          5
then let my enemy pursue and overtake me; let him trample my life to the ground and make me sleep in the dust. Selah
          6
Arise, O LORD, in your anger; rise up against the rage of my enemies. Awake, my God; decree justice.
          7
          Let the assembled peoples gather around you. Rule over them from on high;
          8
let the LORD judge the peoples. Judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, according to my integrity, O Most High.
          9
O righteous God, who searches minds and hearts, bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure.
          10
My shield [2] is God Most High, who saves the upright in heart.
          11
God is a righteous judge, a God who expresses his wrath every day.
          12
If he does not relent, he [3] will sharpen his sword; he will bend and string his bow.
          13
He has prepared his deadly weapons; he makes ready his flaming arrows.
          14
He who is pregnant with evil and conceives trouble gives birth to disillusionment.
          15
He who digs a hole and scoops it out falls into the pit he has made.
          16
The trouble he causes recoils on himself; his violence comes down on his own head.
          17
I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.
