- Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my sighing.

- Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray.

- In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.

- You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil; with you the wicked cannot dwell.
- 5
- The arrogant cannot stand in your presence; you hate all who do wrong.
- 6
- You destroy those who tell lies; bloodthirsty and deceitful men the LORD abhors.
- 7
- But I, by your great mercy, will come into your house; in reverence will I bow down toward your holy temple.

- Lead me, O LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies-- make straight your way before me.
- 9
- Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with destruction. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongue they speak deceit.
- 10
- Declare them guilty, O God! Let their intrigues be their downfall. Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you.
- 11
- But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.

- For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.

- You sweep men away in the sleep of death; they are like the new grass of the morning--

- We are consumed by your anger and terrified by your indignation.

- You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence.

- All our days pass away under your wrath; we finish our years with a moan.

- The length of our days is seventy years-- or eighty, if we have the strength; yet their span [1] is but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away.

- Who knows the power of your anger? For your wrath is as great as the fear that is due you.

- Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

- Relent, O LORD! How long will it be? Have compassion on your servants.

- Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

- Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, for as many years as we have seen trouble.

- May your deeds be shown to your servants, your splendor to their children.

- May the favor [2] of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us-- yes, establish the work of our hands.

- my enemy will say, "I have overcome him," and my foes will rejoice when I fall.

- But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.
