NJIKO CARNIVAL- Charly Boy and his committee conclude ongoing empowerment programme on the third leg
An important part of Njiko Carnival’s core mission is the youth and women empowerment in the 5 south-eastern states in Nigeria(ENUGU, IMO, ANAMBRA, ABIA, EBONYI).The organizers of the notable annual event with Mr Charles Oputa AKA CHARLYBOY as the official face had its third edition of the empowerment at the Civic Centre in Oguta.
A new set of 50 women within the region were given a soft loan of N50, 000 with the aim of showing support to their petty sole businesses. Oguta played host to kings,25 chiefs from 29 communities, over 150 students from the schools in the community who were given certificates for their outstanding performances in their various classes, women groups who are the main beneficiaries of the initiative, sponsors all and sundry. In addition, Unilever showed massive support by donating top brands from their stable to everyone. Everyone in attendance went home with a freebie, a courtesy of Unilever.
Empowerment still remains the integral part of the carnival.Charly Boy said he will continue to do more to make the burden light for the people involved. The carnival proper comes up in December. The people are expected to come out in their numbers to celebrate their rich culture and heritage and exhibit Igbotic quality maka na IgboAmaka.
