Here is a full update on the FUTA Boat mishap.
Two 300 level students of the FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY Akure (futa), OLABIYI EMMANUEL, from Agricultural and Environmental Engineering department , and OLOKUN BABATUNDE ALEX, from Project Management Technology department have lost their lives in a tragic incident at the institution' s fish pond.
A statement by the students' Union president Adeyinka Olasehinde and public relations officer, Ayomide Fowowe said the two students died in a boat mishap after an Entrepreneurship training (ENT) at the laboratory for Fishery and Aquaculture, Obakekere on the institution's campus.
According to the statement,after the training, four of the students decided to take a selfie on the canoe packed by the pond and in the process, the canoe capsized, leading to the drowning of Babatunde and Emmanuel as they could not swim.
The statement commiserated with the student union and families of the deceased over the unfortunate incident describing this period as a trying time for them.
