FG Bans Movement Of Corpses Across Nigerian States Due To Ebola Spread


Dr Khalliru AlhassanNIGERIA: In a bid to control Ebola spread in Nigeria,the federal government of Nigeria has banned the movement of corpses from one state of the federation to another for burial.

  This was disclosed by the minister of state for Health, Dr.Khalliru Alhassan while speaking at the opening of the 3rd quarter meeting of the Northern Traditional Leaders Committee on Primary Health Care Delivery at Africa House in Kano yesterday.He also said that henceforth dead bodies from other countries will not be allowed into Nigeria,especially those from Ebola epidemic countries like Liberia,Sierra Leone and Guinea.According to him,all dead bodies will be buried wherever they die.

“We institute a control measures, henceforth dead bodies will not be allowed to be transported from one part of the country to another."


  Ebola has been spreading at an alarming rate in Africa.Nigerian government is trying to put measures in place to limit its spread.However some tribes in Nigeria will frown at the ban especially the Ibos where a dead person is traditionally meant to be buried in his or her village.
