KANTE ANNOUNCED HIS PRESENCE, AZPILICUETA ASSISTED, MORATA DID ALL

Chelsea defeated Manchester United 1-0 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon to keep their hopes alive in the Premier League title race.

The reigning champions went into today’s contest with the gap between themselves and Manchester City having grown earlier in the afternoon, with the league leaders defeating Arsenal 3-1 in front of their home supporters.

However, Chelsea do not appear willing to give up their crown without putting up a fight, and showed that today against Jose Mourinho’s Man United.

N’Golo Kante returned to the side, and scarcely put a foot wrong.

His presence in the middle of the park cannot be overstated, and Twitter went absolutely bonkers for the Frenchman after what was a flawless performance.

It was Alvaro Morata who proved to be the match-winner, though. Cesar Azpilicueta’s cross from the right-hand-side was headed home by his compatriot to end his goal drought, which had lasted over 400 minutes. It was the fifth time the pair had combined for a goal in the Premier League this term.

It was one hell of a statement from Antonio Conte’s men, and just when the Italian appeared to be under pressure. Here’s our player ratings for the champions.

Courtois 7; Azpilicueta 8, Christensen 8, Cahill 7; Zappcosta 6, Kante 10, Bakayoko 9, Fabregas 6, Alonso 5; Hazard 9, Morata 9.  (Subs: Rudiger 6,
Drinkwater 7, Willian 6)
