Tax Fraud:
Anambra Arrests over 70 over Harassment, Extortion & Illegal Revenue Collection in Onitsha
Suspected illegal tax collectors operating mostly along Upper Iweka Road and Bridge Head, have been apprehended by a joint team of the Nigeria Police and Officers of Ocha Brigade.
According to the State Commander of OCHA Brigade, Kenneth Okonkwo, Gov Willie Obiano is determined to rid Anambra of hoodlums who extort innocent motorists by over taxing and carrying out illegal tax collections in the state.
Following series of petitions and complaints from citizens and motorists, the state government would stop at nothing to sanitize Onitsha and its environs of criminal activities any criminal activity, stop every form of tax fraud and ensure that only the due taxes are paid.
The suspects have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Onitsha Division for prosecution.
