‘He’s just trying to sell books’ – Mourinho blasts Drogba

Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba recenty decried what he perceived as a lack of leadership at the club following their disastrous start to the current campaign.

And Jose Mourinho, in typical fashion, has dismissed the claims of the Chelsea legend, accusing the two-time African footballer of the year of trying to sell his book.

Drogba, who presently plays for MLS side Montreal Impact, was out promoting his autobiography, Commitment, when he opined that the Chelsea dressing room was full of "big names, big players and big characters" during his time at the club.

The former Marseille and Fenerbahce striker pointed out that only captain John Terry remained at Stamford Bridge from that group and enjoined the younger players to develop a similar mentality.

"When you speak because you want to sell books, I don't read," Mourinho told reporters on Friday ahead of Chelsea's London derby against Tottenham this weekend. "I don't read."

"I like good interviews. I like interviews from big guys like Didier with good journalists, newspapers or television. But this is not an interview. It was to sell books."

Asked if he felt let down by his former player, Mourinho replied in the negative.

"It doesn't disappoint me. It was just the reality. It was just to sell books. I can analyse Didier's interview with pleasure, but not Didier selling books."

Another defeat for the Blues will leave them 15 points off the Champions League places.
