Mrs. Obiano fulfilled as CAFÉ empowers 300 more women in various Skills
The wife of the governor of Anambra State, Chief (Mrs.) Obiano appears fulfilled as 300 women who were trained in various skills received their certificates of successful training in addition to receiving working tools and take-off fund from the Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFÉ). The graduands were part of third batch trainees. Over 600 have been trained and empowered so far while names for fourth batch are currently being compiled.
The trainees were selected across the 21 local government areas of Anambra State for training in various skills such as Soap and Cosmetics, Tie and Dye, Bead and Hat Making, Hair Dressing and Baking and Confectioneries as well as Community Heath Care Works.
Addressing the graduands shortly before handing over to them working tools and seed money, Chief (Mrs.) Obiano thanked them for making themselves available and expressed immense gratitude to God Almighty for keeping her on the path of humanitarian service since 1991 before she became the First Lady of the State.
According to her, the training would help to equip trainees with relevant skills in areas of training to become self-reliant, job creators, family bread winners and escape from poverty while advising them to remain obedient to their husband in the face of the empowerment programme that has made them income earners.
Quoting an excerpt of Anambra Share Values part of which encourages people to be part of solution rather than be part of the problem, the governor's wife noted that CAFÉ has been supportive to the Obiano administration to make life meaningful to the people especially the indigent women, widows and the physically challenged.
She said since inception CAFÉ had provided 800 physically challenged persons with prosthetic limbs, carried out free cleft and lip palate corrective surgeries to 120 children with abnormalities, embarked on the building of toilet project in select community markets to boost environmental hygiene and preserve dignity of market women, as well as the building of modern houses for widows who live in mud houses and empowerment of hundreds of widows and women in different skills.
Chief (Mrs.) Obiano who is the founder and CEO of CAFÉ pointed out that the only thing that gives her joy is to put smiles on the faces of people especially the needy. "The only thing that gives me joy is to put smile on the faces of people especially the needy ones in our midst. If you are happy, then I am happy. When you become self-reliant and employers of labour, make your home a good place to live in and impact on lives and don't feel that now you are empowered to make money that you are above your husband Husbands are the heads of family and should be accorded such respect."
Highlighting the programmes and achievements of governor Obiano, she told the women that in barely two years the present government in Anambra has surpassed what others were not able to achieve in four or eight years in office, asserting that the resounding performances of the governor in the area of infrastructural development like roads and Awka flyovers, regular payment of workers' salaries and pensioners retirees benefits at a period when others are owing backlog of monthly salaries, and the creation prospects in attraction of investments to the tune of N500 billion or $2.4b USD among other achievements.
In her advice to the graduands, wife of the Deputy Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Mrs. Sylvia Oseke, charged the beneficiaries to make the wife of the governor proud by making good use of what they have been thought and striving to become reference points in the trade in years to come. " It would be a thing of joy for the wife of the governor to hear testimonials in the future from some of you that it was the break she gave to you that set you on the part of success. So work hard and make a success of your selves." She stressed.
Speaking to newsmen after the presentation, one of the graduands, Calista Nwaloba thanked the governor's wife for the empowerment trainings and provision with working tools and seed money and assured that she would make the best use of the materials and financial resources to meet the needs of her family and contribute to development of the State an Nigeria.
Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of Certificates of Empowerment Training, working tools and seed money to graduands including Mercy Obi, Calista Nwalioba and Ann Nwankwo who were each presented with Gas Cooker with Oven,and Ogochukwu Chukwulobelu (Dryer and Wash hand basin).
