Arms Scam: Court Adjourns Badeh’s Trial to May 9

The cross-examination of a prosecution witness, Air Commodore Salisu Abdullahi Yushau, a former Director of Finance and Accounts, Nigerian Air Force, in the ongoing trial of ex-Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh, continued on Wednesday April 27, 2016, before Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

At the sitting, Yushau stated how he had accompanied Alex Badeh Junior, one Hussein Umar and one Engr. Kabir Salau to inspect three (3) properties, including one at No. 19, Kumasi Crescent, Wuse, Abuja, which was eventually purchased and renovated by the ex-Chief of Defence Staff for his son.

According to him, "Engr Kabir Salau marketed the property to Alex (Badeh) Jnr. We inspected the property together, but the transaction was between Alex Badeh jnr. and Kabir. I never even met the landlord of the property.

"I was directed by my boss (Badeh) to pay Engr. Salau in two installments. I paid each installment from my residence at 8, Temple Street, Wuse II, Abuja. Typically, I would take normal monthly N558.2m to Badeh's house, where he would instruct me to deduct the money for Engr. Salau. I also paid the cost of renovation of N60m based on instruction from my boss. For the furniture, I asked my office to liaise with Alex Badeh jnr. and effect payment."

"I have worked as a finance man in the Air Force for 25 years. I was taking orders from my boss."
Badeh is being prosecuted alongside Iyalikam Nigeria Limited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for offences bordering on money laundering to the tune of over N3.9bn.
The case has been adjourned to May 9, 10 and 11, 2016 for continuation of  continuation of trial.
