'Players and officials of Enyimba Football Club of Aba went to Katsina yesterday to honor a football match with Katsina United in the Nigerian Professional League.
They were beaten 2-1 by their hosts. That was not enough for them.
After the match, the crowd became violent and attacked the players and officials, destroying their bus. Some of the players and officials got wounded.
These people will come here and be treated with respect and their safety will be assured. It is on record that no visiting team has ever been molested by our people.
This nonsense has to stop.
I am sure that the Management of Enyimba will put up a very strongly worded protest letter to the Nigeria Football Federation'
