Enugu Rangers yesterday defeated Kano Pillars 4-2 on penalties, after a 3-3 draw at full time to win the 2018 Aiteo Cup.




The game at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta state started at a high tempo with Kan Pillars taking the lead as early as the fifth minute when veteran Rabiu Ali fired in a ball through to him by Nwagua into the net.One goal became two when Ibrahim Alassan's corner kick was pushed in by Rangers goalkeeper Femi Thomas in the 20th minute.


The first half ended 2-0 in favour of  Kano Pillars.Nwagua scored the third for Rangers just after resumption.


Kelvin Itoya gave Rangers some hope when he scored a screamer in the 77th minute.Chidera Ezeh gave the Flying Antelopes a lifeline when he scored the second goal for Rangers in the 82nd minute.The turning point of the game was when Ajani Ibrahim produced an unbelievable effort to level the scores and send the game to penalties after additional time.


The game went to penalties and Enugu Rangers completed a comeback to win the penalty shootout 4-2 after Rabiu Ali failed to score the first spot kick.


On 17th of this month,Rangers players alongside their coach visited Father Mbaka's Adoration Ministry where he anointed them for the match and some of their other matches.He urged them to go victoriously with favour.Everybody who watched the match will attest that it was a miraculous comeback
