NEW APPOINTMENTS FOR NIGER DELTA POWER
HOLDING COMPANY (NDPHC)

His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of a substantive Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer and two Executive Directors for the Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited (NDPHC).  The new appointees are:
(i) Joseph Chiedu Ugbo - Managing Director/Chief Executive
Officer (He is currently acting in the same capacity).
(ii) Mallam Babayo Shehu- Executive Director (Finance and Administration).
(iii) Engineer Ife Oyedele -Executive Director (Engineering and
Technical Services).

2. Mr. Ugbo is a legal practitioner and infrastructure regulations specialist with extensive experience in electricity industry reform and privatization.  He has Bachelor and Master of Law Degrees from the University of Lagos and was admitted to practice Law in Nigeria in 1991.  For over 15 years, he provided legal advisory services to public sector power entities including legal support to erstwhile National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) and to the Bureau of Public Enterprises during the privatization of the twenty successor companies of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).

3. Mallam Babayo Shehu has a First Class Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.  He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.  Mallam Babayo Shehu began his working career with Bauchi State Development Board in 1981.  He was in banking from 1987 to 2003 and thereafter joined the federal public service in 2003 and was in the service from 2003 to 2014.

4. Engineer Oyedele graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree, Electrical Engineering from the University of Lagos in 1982.  He is a member, Nigerian Society of Engineers and Institute of Directors.  Between 1982 and 1992, Engineer Oyedele worked in both the public and private sectors.  He established his own company, Messrs Matcom Limited in 1992.  He is the Managing Director of the company until his new appointment.

Gov. Tambuwal Emphasises Importance Of Quality Of Teachers In Effective Education

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has re emphasized the importance  of having quality and quantity of teachers to effective manage in educational system.

He made this observation today when he receive the Management of NEI Plus led by Chief Party Dr. James Statman at Government house sokoto.
The governor further stated that quality of teachers must be complimented with availability of necessary teaching and learning materials.
He said for this reason, sokoto state government  is seriously focussing to address these area in implementing the cleared emergency on education in the state.

Tambuwal added that, no stone shall be left unturned to ensure adequate implementation of the programme that all machineries have been set in motion for effective and efficient management of the state educational system to address overal empowerment of the youth of sokoto.

He further stated that, at the end of the training of trainers,the state shall be in good position to realise its manpower need in the educational system and smooth implementation of its focus on education.
Speaking earlier, The Chief of Party of NEI plus Dr. James Statman appreciated the sokoto state government for the necessary cooperation towards the programme and for its seriousness to uplift education standard of the state.

NI07 BILLION RECOVERY :SOLOMON WOMBO AND EIGHT INDICTED PERSONS ARRESTED.

NI07 BILLION RECOVERY COMMENCES WITH ARREST OF WOMBO AND EIGHT INDICTED PERSONS

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in conjunction with Nigeria Police have started the process of the recovery of the N107 billion looted from Benue State treasury by 52 individuals and 10 corporate organisations in the last administration with the arrest of nine persons.

The nine persons who were indicted by the Justice Elizabeth Kpojime Commission of Inquiry were arrested and detained at the State Police headquarters, Makurdi before being taken to the force headquarters Abuja for further investigation and subsequent prosecution.

Those arrested are the former Special Adviser to the former Governor, Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Solomon Wombo, former permanent secretary of the Bureau, Mr Asen Sambe, and the accountant during their time, Mr. Isaiah Ipevnor.

Others are Janet Aluga, Moses Detso, Peter Ochoga, James Gera, Aorga Emmanuel and former legal adviser of the Benue Investment and Property Company, BIPC, Mr John Tyokegh.

The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Bashir Makama, who confirmed the arrest explained that the it was effected by the Police from the force headquarters in Abuja.

Mr Wombo reported himself to the police at the force headquarters in Abuja and is currently being detained there.
The police officer who spoke on condition of anonymity said one of those indicted by the Kpojime Commission, Mr Richard Gbande, escaped when Police went to arrest him but that his two cars were impounded.

He revealed that large amounts of money and ammunition were recovered from the houses of some of those arrested.
Reacting to the development, the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Michael Gusa, who also confirmed the arrests stated that the Governor Ortom administration would do everything legally possible to recover the looted funds.

He assured the people of the state that after the recovery of the money, it would be channelled towards the development of the state as well as the clearing of all salaries and other entitlements owed workers and pensioners.
