Psalm 26- 1
- Psalm 26 Of David.
- 1
- Vindicate me, O LORD, for I have led a blameless life; I have trusted in the LORD without wavering.
- 2
- Test me, O LORD, and try me, examine my heart and my mind;
- 3
- for your love is ever before me, and I walk continually in your truth.
- 4
- I do not sit with deceitful men, nor do I consort with hypocrites;
- 5
- I abhor the assembly of evildoers and refuse to sit with the wicked.
- 6
- I wash my hands in innocence, and go about your altar, O LORD,
- 7
- proclaiming aloud your praise and telling of all your wonderful deeds.
- 8
- I love the house where you live, O LORD, the place where your glory dwells.
- 9
- Do not take away my soul along with sinners, my life with bloodthirsty men,
- 10
- in whose hands are wicked schemes, whose right hands are full of bribes.
- 11
- But I lead a blameless life; redeem me and be merciful to me.
- 12
- My feet stand on level ground; in the great assembly I will praise the LORD
Psalm 59- 1
- Psalm 59 For the director of music. [To the tune of] "Do Not Destroy." Of David. A miktam. [1] When Saul had sent men to watch David's house in order to kill him.
- 1
- Deliver me from my enemies, O God; protect me from those who rise up against me.
- 2
- Deliver me from evildoers and save me from bloodthirsty men.
- 3
- See how they lie in wait for me! Fierce men conspire against me for no offense or sin of mine, O LORD.
- 4
- I have done no wrong, yet they are ready to attack me. Arise to help me; look on my plight!
- 5
- O LORD God Almighty, the God of Israel, rouse yourself to punish all the nations; show no mercy to wicked traitors. Selah
- 6
- They return at evening, snarling like dogs, and prowl about the city.
- 7
- See what they spew from their mouths-- they spew out swords from their lips, and they say, "Who can hear us?"
- 8
- But you, O LORD, laugh at them; you scoff at all those nations.
- 9
- O my Strength, I watch for you; you, O God, are my fortress,
- 10
- my loving God. God will go before me and will let me gloat over those who slander me.
- 11
- But do not kill them, O Lord our shield, [2] or my people will forget. In your might make them wander about, and bring them down.
- 12
- For the sins of their mouths, for the words of their lips, let them be caught in their pride. For the curses and lies they utter,
- 13
- consume them in wrath, consume them till they are no more. Then it will be known to the ends of the earth that God rules over Jacob. Selah
- 14
- They return at evening, snarling like dogs, and prowl about the city.
- 15
- They wander about for food and howl if not satisfied.
- 16
- But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.
- 17
- O my Strength, I sing praise to you; you, O God, are my fortress, my loving God.
Psalm 10- 1
- Psalm 10 [1]
- 1
- Why, O LORD, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?
- 2
- In his arrogance the wicked man hunts down the weak, who are caught in the schemes he devises.
- 3
- He boasts of the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the LORD.
- 4
- In his pride the wicked does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.
- 5
- His ways are always prosperous; he is haughty and your laws are far from him; he sneers at all his enemies.
- 6
- He says to himself, "Nothing will shake me; I'll always be happy and never have trouble."
- 7
- His mouth is full of curses and lies and threats; trouble and evil are under his tongue.
- 8
- He lies in wait near the villages; from ambush he murders the innocent, watching in secret for his victims.
- 9
- He lies in wait like a lion in cover; he lies in wait to catch the helpless; he catches the helpless and drags them off in his net.
- 10
- His victims are crushed, they collapse; they fall under his strength.
- 11
- He says to himself, "God has forgotten; he covers his face and never sees."
- 12
- Arise, LORD! Lift up your hand, O God. Do not forget the helpless.
- 13
- Why does the wicked man revile God? Why does he say to himself, "He won't call me to account"?
- 14
- But you, O God, do see trouble and grief; you consider it to take it in hand. The victim commits himself to you; you are the helper of the fatherless.
- 15
- Break the arm of the wicked and evil man; call him to account for his wickedness that would not be found out.
- 16
- The LORD is King for ever and ever; the nations will perish from his land.
- 17
- You hear, O LORD, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry,
- 18
- defending the fatherless and the oppressed, in order that man, who is of the earth, may terrify no more.
Psalm 30- 1
- Psalm 30 A psalm. A song. For the dedication of the temple. [1] Of David.
- 1
- I will exalt you, O LORD, for you lifted me out of the depths and did not let my enemies gloat over me.
- 2
- O LORD my God, I called to you for help and you healed me.
- 3
- O LORD, you brought me up from the grave [2] ; you spared me from going down into the pit.
- 4
- Sing to the LORD, you saints of his; praise his holy name.
- 5
- For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.
- 6
- When I felt secure, I said, "I will never be shaken."
- 7
- O LORD, when you favored me, you made my mountain [3] stand firm; but when you hid your face, I was dismayed.
- 8
- To you, O LORD, I called; to the Lord I cried for mercy:
- 9
- "What gain is there in my destruction, [4] in my going down into the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it proclaim your faithfulness?
- 10
- Hear, O LORD, and be merciful to me; O LORD, be my help."
- 11
- You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
- 12
- that my heart may sing to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever.
Psalm 7- 1
- Psalm 7 A shiggaion [1] of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning Cush, a Benjamite.
- 1
- O LORD my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all who pursue me,
- 2
- or they will tear me like a lion and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me.
- 3
- O LORD my God, if I have done this and there is guilt on my hands--
- 4
- if I have done evil to him who is at peace with me or without cause have robbed my foe--
- 5
- then let my enemy pursue and overtake me; let him trample my life to the ground and make me sleep in the dust. Selah
- 6
- Arise, O LORD, in your anger; rise up against the rage of my enemies. Awake, my God; decree justice.
- 7
- Let the assembled peoples gather around you. Rule over them from on high;
- 8
- let the LORD judge the peoples. Judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, according to my integrity, O Most High.
- 9
- O righteous God, who searches minds and hearts, bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure.
- 10
- My shield [2] is God Most High, who saves the upright in heart.
- 11
- God is a righteous judge, a God who expresses his wrath every day.
- 12
- If he does not relent, he [3] will sharpen his sword; he will bend and string his bow.
- 13
- He has prepared his deadly weapons; he makes ready his flaming arrows.
- 14
- He who is pregnant with evil and conceives trouble gives birth to disillusionment.
- 15
- He who digs a hole and scoops it out falls into the pit he has made.
- 16
- The trouble he causes recoils on himself; his violence comes down on his own head.
- 17
- I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.
Psalm 61- 1
- Psalm 61 For the director of music. With stringed instruments. Of David.
- 1
- Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer.
- 2
- From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
- 3
- For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe.
- 4
- I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings. Selah
- 5
- For you have heard my vows, O God; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.
- 6
- Increase the days of the king's life, his years for many generations.
- 7
- May he be enthroned in God's presence forever; appoint your love and faithfulness to protect him.
- 8
- Then will I ever sing praise to your name and fulfill my vows day after day.
Psalm 53- 1
- Psalm 53 For the director of music. According to mahalath. [1] A maskil [2] of David.
- 1
- The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, and their ways are vile; there is no one who does good.
- 2
- God looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.
- 3
- Everyone has turned away, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.
- 4
- Will the evildoers never learn-- those who devour my people as men eat bread and who do not call on God?
- 5
- There they were, overwhelmed with dread, where there was nothing to dread. God scattered the bones of those who attacked you; you put them to shame, for God despised them.
- 6
- Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When God restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!
