Today's bible teaching: As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend

*LIFE TONIC*

*Proverbs 27:17 -*
*As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.*

From the beginning, man was not made to be alone. Man was created and configured by God to be a friend to one another. As iron has the capacity to sharpen another iron, so a friend has the same capacity to sharpen another friend.
Who is a friend? A friend is an associate who provides assistance. A friend is someone that can stand by you when others reject you. A friend is a person who backs or supports you when in need. A friend is who you are, what you are made to be. Our society today is in dare need of 'a friend.'

There is mutual benefit in the rubbing of two iron blades together; the edges become sharper, making the knives more efficient in their task to cut and slice. We are to sharpen one another - in times of meeting, fellowship, group chat, or any other interaction.
*"A friend in need is a friend indeed" - Quintus Ennius.* A friend who helps at a difficult time is a person who you can really rely on.

Oftentimes we tend to set ourselves as great friends to our dead ones. We celebrate most of our friends when they are dead than when they were alive. We can't sharpen our friends when they are dead. As 'a friend' we are, now is the time to sharpen one another. Sharpen your friend now with your good words of encouragement, with your time, with your money to reach out to your friend in pains and sufferings. 'A friend' is what we need at our homes, offices, churches, and business places. You are that 'a friend' I need to achieve greatness in my life. I am that 'a friend' you need to hold the ladder tight while you climb up. As long as I can't do without you as 'a friend', you can't do without me as well.

A song artist - *Hezekiah Walker;* sang thus:
I need you, you need me.
We're all a part of God's body.
Stand with me, agree with me.
We're a part of God's body.
It is is his will, that every need be supplied.
You are important to me, I need you to survive (2x).
I pray for you, you pray for me.
I love you, I need you to survive.
I won't harm you with words from my mouth.
I love you, I need you to survive.
It is his will, that every need be supplied.
You are important to me, I need you to survive.

Beloved, may God ignite the fire of being 'a friend' to someone today in Jesus Name.

*Shalom*

*Happy New Week*

Today's prayer: Vindicate me, my God, and plead my cause against an unfaithful nation. Rescue me from those who are deceitful and wicked.

Psalm 43

Vindicate me, my God,
    and plead my cause
    against an unfaithful nation.
Rescue me from those who are
    deceitful and wicked.
You are God my stronghold.
    Why have you rejected me?
Why must I go about mourning,
    oppressed by the enemy?
Send me your light and your faithful care,
    let them lead me;
let them bring me to your holy mountain,
    to the place where you dwell.
Then I will go to the altar of God,
    to God, my joy and my delight.
I will praise you with the lyre,
    O God, my God.

Why, my soul, are you downcast?
    Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
    for I will yet praise him,
    my Savior and my God.

Today's bible teaching:In God, whose word I praise,in the Lord, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid.What can man do to me?

Psalm 56

For the director of music. To the tune of “A Dove on Distant Oaks.” Of David. A miktam. When the Philistines had seized him in Gath.

Be merciful to me, my God,
    for my enemies are in hot pursuit;
    all day long they press their attack.
My adversaries pursue me all day long;
    in their pride many are attacking me.

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
    In God, whose word I praise—
in God I trust and am not afraid.
    What can mere mortals do to me?

All day long they twist my words;
    all their schemes are for my ruin.
They conspire, they lurk,
    they watch my steps,
    hoping to take my life.
Because of their wickedness do not[c] let them escape;
    in your anger, God, bring the nations down.

Record my misery;
    list my tears on your scroll[d]
    are they not in your record?
Then my enemies will turn back
    when I call for help.
    By this I will know that God is for me.

10 In God, whose word I praise,
    in the Lord, whose word I praise—
11 in God I trust and am not afraid.
    What can man do to me?

12 I am under vows to you, my God;
    I will present my thank offerings to you.
13 For you have delivered me from death
    and my feet from stumbling,
that I may walk before God
    in the light of life.
