Psalm 121- 1
- Psalm 121 A song of ascents.
- 1
- I lift up my eyes to the hills-- where does my help come from?
- 2
- My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
- 3
- He will not let your foot slip-- he who watches over you will not slumber;
- 4
- indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
- 5
- The LORD watches over you-- the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
- 6
- the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
- 7
- The LORD will keep you from all harm-- he will watch over your life;
- 8
- the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
Psalm 35- 1
- Psalm 35 Of David.
- 1
- Contend, O LORD, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me.
- 2
- Take up shield and buckler; arise and come to my aid.
- 3
- Brandish spear and javelin [1] against those who pursue me. Say to my soul, "I am your salvation."
- 4
- May those who seek my life be disgraced and put to shame; may those who plot my ruin be turned back in dismay.
- 5
- May they be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the LORD driving them away;
- 6
- may their path be dark and slippery, with the angel of the LORD pursuing them.
- 7
- Since they hid their net for me without cause and without cause dug a pit for me,
- 8
- may ruin overtake them by surprise-- may the net they hid entangle them, may they fall into the pit, to their ruin.
- 9
- Then my soul will rejoice in the LORD and delight in his salvation.
- 10
- My whole being will exclaim, "Who is like you, O LORD? You rescue the poor from those too strong for them, the poor and needy from those who rob them."
- 11
- Ruthless witnesses come forward; they question me on things I know nothing about.
- 12
- They repay me evil for good and leave my soul forlorn.
- 13
- Yet when they were ill, I put on sackcloth and humbled myself with fasting. When my prayers returned to me unanswered,
- 14
- I went about mourning as though for my friend or brother. I bowed my head in grief as though weeping for my mother.
- 15
- But when I stumbled, they gathered in glee; attackers gathered against me when I was unaware. They slandered me without ceasing.
- 16
- Like the ungodly they maliciously mocked [2] ; they gnashed their teeth at me.
- 17
- O Lord, how long will you look on? Rescue my life from their ravages, my precious life from these lions.
- 18
- I will give you thanks in the great assembly; among throngs of people I will praise you.
- 19
- Let not those gloat over me who are my enemies without cause; let not those who hate me without reason maliciously wink the eye.
- 20
- They do not speak peaceably, but devise false accusations against those who live quietly in the land.
- 21
- They gape at me and say, "Aha! Aha! With our own eyes we have seen it."
- 22
- O LORD, you have seen this; be not silent. Do not be far from me, O Lord.
- 23
- Awake, and rise to my defense! Contend for me, my God and Lord.
- 24
- Vindicate me in your righteousness, O LORD my God; do not let them gloat over me.
- 25
- Do not let them think, "Aha, just what we wanted!" or say, "We have swallowed him up."
- 26
- May all who gloat over my distress be put to shame and confusion; may all who exalt themselves over me be clothed with shame and disgrace.
- 27
- May those who delight in my vindication shout for joy and gladness; may they always say, "The LORD be exalted, who delights in the well-being of his servant."
- 28
- My tongue will speak of your righteousness and of your praises all day long.
Psalm 57- 1
- Psalm 57 For the director of music. [To the tune of] "Do Not Destroy." Of David. A miktam. [1] When he had fled from Saul into the cave.
- 1
- Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for in you my soul takes refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.
- 2
- I cry out to God Most High, to God, who fulfills [his purpose] for me.
- 3
- He sends from heaven and saves me, rebuking those who hotly pursue me; Selah God sends his love and his faithfulness.
- 4
- I am in the midst of lions; I lie among ravenous beasts-- men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords.
- 5
- Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.
- 6
- They spread a net for my feet-- I was bowed down in distress. They dug a pit in my path-- but they have fallen into it themselves. Selah
- 7
- My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music.
- 8
- Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.
- 9
- I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples.
- 10
- For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
- 11
- Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth
Psalm 76- 1
- Psalm 76 For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm of Asaph. A song.
- 1
- In Judah God is known; his name is great in Israel.
- 2
- His tent is in Salem, his dwelling place in Zion.
- 3
- There he broke the flashing arrows, the shields and the swords, the weapons of war. Selah
- 4
- You are resplendent with light, more majestic than mountains rich with game.
- 5
- Valiant men lie plundered, they sleep their last sleep; not one of the warriors can lift his hands.
- 6
- At your rebuke, O God of Jacob, both horse and chariot lie still.
- 7
- You alone are to be feared. Who can stand before you when you are angry?
- 8
- From heaven you pronounced judgment, and the land feared and was quiet--
- 9
- when you, O God, rose up to judge, to save all the afflicted of the land. Selah
- 10
- Surely your wrath against men brings you praise, and the survivors of your wrath are restrained.
- 11
- Make vows to the LORD your God and fulfill them; let all the neighboring lands bring gifts to the One to be feared.
Psalm 75- 1
- Psalm 75 For the director of music. [To the tune of] "Do Not Destroy." A psalm of Asaph. A song.
- 1
- We give thanks to you, O God, we give thanks, for your Name is near; men tell of your wonderful deeds.
- 2
- You say, "I choose the appointed time; it is I who judge uprightly.
- 3
- When the earth and all its people quake, it is I who hold its pillars firm. Selah
- 4
- To the arrogant I say, `Boast no more,' and to the wicked, `Do not lift up your horns.
- 5
- Do not lift your horns against heaven; do not speak with outstretched neck.'"
- 6
- No one from the east or the west or from the desert can exalt a man.
- 7
- But it is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another.
- 8
- In the hand of the LORD is a cup full of foaming wine mixed with spices; he pours it out, and all the wicked of the earth drink it down to its very dregs.
- 9
- As for me, I will declare this forever; I will sing praise to the God of Jacob.
- 10
- I will cut off the horns of all the wicked, but the horns of the righteous will be lifted up
Psalm 25- 1
- Psalm 25 Of David. [1]
- 1
- To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul;
- 2
- in you I trust, O my God. Do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me.
- 3
- No one whose hope is in you will ever be put to shame, but they will be put to shame who are treacherous without excuse.
- 4
- Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths;
- 5
- guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.
- 6
- Remember, O LORD, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old.
- 7
- Remember not the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you are good, O LORD.
- 8
- Good and upright is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.
- 9
- He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.
- 10
- All the ways of the LORD are loving and faithful for those who keep the demands of his covenant.
- 11
- For the sake of your name, O LORD, forgive my iniquity, though it is great.
- 12
- Who, then, is the man that fears the LORD? He will instruct him in the way chosen for him.
- 13
- He will spend his days in prosperity, and his descendants will inherit the land.
- 14
- The LORD confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them.
- 15
- My eyes are ever on the LORD, for only he will release my feet from the snare.
- 16
- Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted.
- 17
- The troubles of my heart have multiplied; free me from my anguish.
- 18
- Look upon my affliction and my distress and take away all my sins.
- 19
- See how my enemies have increased and how fiercely they hate me!
- 20
- Guard my life and rescue me; let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in you.
- 21
- May integrity and uprightness protect me, because my hope is in you.
- 22
- Redeem Israel, O God, from all their troubles!
Psalm 68- 1
- Psalm 68 For the director of music. Of David. A psalm. A song.
- 1
- May God arise, may his enemies be scattered; may his foes flee before him.
- 2
- As smoke is blown away by the wind, may you blow them away; as wax melts before the fire, may the wicked perish before God.
- 3
- But may the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; may they be happy and joyful.
- 4
- Sing to God, sing praise to his name, extol him who rides on the clouds [1] -- his name is the LORD-- and rejoice before him.
- 5
- A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.
- 6
- God sets the lonely in families, [2] he leads forth the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.
- 7
- When you went out before your people, O God, when you marched through the wasteland, Selah
- 8
- the earth shook, the heavens poured down rain, before God, the One of Sinai, before God, the God of Israel.
- 9
- You gave abundant showers, O God; you refreshed your weary inheritance.
- 10
- Your people settled in it, and from your bounty, O God, you provided for the poor.
- 11
- The Lord announced the word, and great was the company of those who proclaimed it:
- 12
- "Kings and armies flee in haste; in the camps men divide the plunder.
- 13
- Even while you sleep among the campfires, [3] the wings of [my] dove are sheathed with silver, its feathers with shining gold."
- 14
- When the Almighty [4] scattered the kings in the land, it was like snow fallen on Zalmon.
- 15
- The mountains of Bashan are majestic mountains; rugged are the mountains of Bashan.
- 16
- Why gaze in envy, O rugged mountains, at the mountain where God chooses to reign, where the LORD himself will dwell forever?
- 17
- The chariots of God are tens of thousands and thousands of thousands; the Lord [has come] from Sinai into his sanctuary.
- 18
- When you ascended on high, you led captives in your train; you received gifts from men, even from [5] the rebellious-- that you, [6] O LORD God, might dwell there.
- 19
- Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. Selah
- 20
- Our God is a God who saves; from the Sovereign LORD comes escape from death.
- 21
- Surely God will crush the heads of his enemies, the hairy crowns of those who go on in their sins.
- 22
- The Lord says, "I will bring them from Bashan; I will bring them from the depths of the sea,
- 23
- that you may plunge your feet in the blood of your foes, while the tongues of your dogs have their share."
- 24
- Your procession has come into view, O God, the procession of my God and King into the sanctuary.
- 25
- In front are the singers, after them the musicians; with them are the maidens playing tambourines.
- 26
- Praise God in the great congregation; praise the LORD in the assembly of Israel.
- 27
- There is the little tribe of Benjamin, leading them, there the great throng of Judah's princes, and there the princes of Zebulun and of Naphtali.
- 28
- Summon your power, O God [7] ; show us your strength, O God, as you have done before.
- 29
- Because of your temple at Jerusalem kings will bring you gifts.
- 30
- Rebuke the beast among the reeds, the herd of bulls among the calves of the nations. Humbled, may it bring bars of silver. Scatter the nations who delight in war.
- 31
- Envoys will come from Egypt; Cush [8] will submit herself to God.
- 32
- Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth, sing praise to the Lord, Selah
- 33
- to him who rides the ancient skies above, who thunders with mighty voice.
- 34
- Proclaim the power of God, whose majesty is over Israel, whose power is in the skies.
- 35
- You are awesome, O God, in your sanctuary; the God of Israel gives power and strength to his people. Praise be to God!
