Psalm 15- 1
- Psalm 15 A psalm of David.
- 1
- LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill?
- 2
- He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart
- 3
- and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellowman,
- 4
- who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the LORD, who keeps his oath even when it hurts,
- 5
- who lends his money without usury and does not accept a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken.
Psalm 67- 1
- Psalm 67 For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm. A song.
- 1
- May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine upon us, Selah
- 2
- that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.
- 3
- May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you.
- 4
- May the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you rule the peoples justly and guide the nations of the earth. Selah
- 5
- May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you.
- 6
- Then the land will yield its harvest, and God, our God, will bless us.
- 7
- God will bless us, and all the ends of the earth will fear him.
Psalm 27- 1
- Psalm 27 Of David.
- 1
- The LORD is my light and my salvation-- whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life-- of whom shall I be afraid?
- 2
- When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, [1] when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall.
- 3
- Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident.
- 4
- One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
- 5
- For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock.
- 6
- Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD.
- 7
- Hear my voice when I call, O LORD; be merciful to me and answer me.
- 8
- My heart says of you, "Seek his [2] face!" Your face, LORD, I will seek.
- 9
- Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, O God my Savior.
- 10
- Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me.
- 11
- Teach me your way, O LORD; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors.
- 12
- Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, breathing out violence.
- 13
- I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
- 14
- Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.
Psalm 4- 1
- Psalm 4 For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm of David.
- 1
- Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; be merciful to me and hear my prayer.
- 2
- How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame [1] ? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods [2] ? Selah
- 3
- Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD will hear when I call to him.
- 4
- In your anger do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. Selah
- 5
- Offer right sacrifices and trust in the LORD.
- 6
- Many are asking, "Who can show us any good?" Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD.
- 7
- You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound.
- 8
- I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
Psalm 45- 1
- Psalm 45 For the director of music. To [the tune of] "Lilies." Of the Sons of Korah. A maskil. [1] A wedding song.
- 1
- My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.
- 2
- You are the most excellent of men and your lips have been anointed with grace, since God has blessed you forever.
- 3
- Gird your sword upon your side, O mighty one; clothe yourself with splendor and majesty.
- 4
- In your majesty ride forth victoriously in behalf of truth, humility and righteousness; let your right hand display awesome deeds.
- 5
- Let your sharp arrows pierce the hearts of the king's enemies; let the nations fall beneath your feet.
- 6
- Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
- 7
- You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.
- 8
- All your robes are fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia; from palaces adorned with ivory the music of the strings makes you glad.
- 9
- Daughters of kings are among your honored women; at your right hand is the royal bride in gold of Ophir.
- 10
- Listen, O daughter, consider and give ear: Forget your people and your father's house.
- 11
- The king is enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord.
- 12
- The Daughter of Tyre will come with a gift, [2] men of wealth will seek your favor.
- 13
- All glorious is the princess within [her chamber]; her gown is interwoven with gold.
- 14
- In embroidered garments she is led to the king; her virgin companions follow her and are brought to you.
- 15
- They are led in with joy and gladness; they enter the palace of the king.
- 16
- Your sons will take the place of your fathers; you will make them princes throughout the land.
- 17
- I will perpetuate your memory through all generations; therefore the nations will praise you for ever and ever.
Psalm 50- 1
- Psalm 50 A psalm of Asaph.
- 1
- The Mighty One, God, the LORD, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets.
- 2
- From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines forth.
- 3
- Our God comes and will not be silent; a fire devours before him, and around him a tempest rages.
- 4
- He summons the heavens above, and the earth, that he may judge his people:
- 5
- "Gather to me my consecrated ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice."
- 6
- And the heavens proclaim his righteousness, for God himself is judge. Selah
- 7
- "Hear, O my people, and I will speak, O Israel, and I will testify against you: I am God, your God.
- 8
- I do not rebuke you for your sacrifices or your burnt offerings, which are ever before me.
- 9
- I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pens,
- 10
- for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills.
- 11
- I know every bird in the mountains, and the creatures of the field are mine.
- 12
- If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it.
- 13
- Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats?
- 14
- Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High,
- 15
- and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me."
- 16
- But to the wicked, God says: "What right have you to recite my laws or take my covenant on your lips?
- 17
- You hate my instruction and cast my words behind you.
- 18
- When you see a thief, you join with him; you throw in your lot with adulterers.
- 19
- You use your mouth for evil and harness your tongue to deceit.
- 20
- You speak continually against your brother and slander your own mother's son.
- 21
- These things you have done and I kept silent; you thought I was altogether [1] like you. But I will rebuke you and accuse you to your face.
- 22
- "Consider this, you who forget God, or I will tear you to pieces, with none to rescue:
- 23
- He who sacrifices thank offerings honors me, and he prepares the way so that I may show him [2] the salvation of God.
Psalm 35- 1
- Psalm 35 Of David.
- 1
- Contend, O LORD, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me.
- 2
- Take up shield and buckler; arise and come to my aid.
- 3
- Brandish spear and javelin [1] against those who pursue me. Say to my soul, "I am your salvation."
- 4
- May those who seek my life be disgraced and put to shame; may those who plot my ruin be turned back in dismay.
- 5
- May they be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the LORD driving them away;
- 6
- may their path be dark and slippery, with the angel of the LORD pursuing them.
- 7
- Since they hid their net for me without cause and without cause dug a pit for me,
- 8
- may ruin overtake them by surprise-- may the net they hid entangle them, may they fall into the pit, to their ruin.
- 9
- Then my soul will rejoice in the LORD and delight in his salvation.
- 10
- My
whole being will exclaim, "Who is like you, O LORD? You rescue the poor
from those too strong for them, the poor and needy from those who rob
them."
- 11
- Ruthless witnesses come forward; they question me on things I know nothing about.
- 12
- They repay me evil for good and leave my soul forlorn.
- 13
- Yet when they were ill, I put on sackcloth and humbled myself with fasting. When my prayers returned to me unanswered,
- 14
- I went about mourning as though for my friend or brother. I bowed my head in grief as though weeping for my mother.
- 15
- But when I stumbled, they gathered in glee; attackers gathered against me when I was unaware. They slandered me without ceasing.
- 16
- Like the ungodly they maliciously mocked [2] ; they gnashed their teeth at me.
- 17
- O Lord, how long will you look on? Rescue my life from their ravages, my precious life from these lions.
- 18
- I will give you thanks in the great assembly; among throngs of people I will praise you.
- 19
- Let not those gloat over me who are my enemies without cause; let not those who hate me without reason maliciously wink the eye.
- 20
- They do not speak peaceably, but devise false accusations against those who live quietly in the land.
- 21
- They gape at me and say, "Aha! Aha! With our own eyes we have seen it."
- 22
- O LORD, you have seen this; be not silent. Do not be far from me, O Lord.
- 23
- Awake, and rise to my defense! Contend for me, my God and Lord.
- 24
- Vindicate me in your righteousness, O LORD my God; do not let them gloat over me.
- 25
- Do not let them think, "Aha, just what we wanted!" or say, "We have swallowed him up."
- 26
- May
all who gloat over my distress be put to shame and confusion; may all
who exalt themselves over me be clothed with shame and disgrace.
- 27
- May
those who delight in my vindication shout for joy and gladness; may
they always say, "The LORD be exalted, who delights in the well-being of
his servant."
- 28
- My tongue will speak of your righteousness and of your praises all day long.
