Outcome of Edo Guber Election Disgraces Gov. Wike - Senator Abe
...Says Rivers Lost More Than N3Billion in Edo
All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Rivers South East Senatorial District in the legislative re-run election, Senator Magnus Abe has said that the outcome of the Edo State governorship election has disgraced Gov. Nyesom Wike,who went to Gokana Local Government Area to celebrate his anticipated victory of PDP in the election.
Speaking at the Rivers South East Senatorial District APC rally at Ngo School 11 field,Ngo town in Andoni Local Government Area, Abe said that Gov.Wike invested more than N3 billion from the lean resources of the state to support the PDP in Edo state.
He said it was in anticipation of such victory that he chose to go to Gokana LGA,the home local government of Senator Abe in order to ridicule him and assure his people that Nigerians were beginning to vote out APC.
Abe said that Wike disguised his intention by claiming to flag off the Kpopie-Bodo road in Gokana LGA,which had almost been completed by the last administration.
He said what was needed was not to flag off the reconstruction of the road but to complete the payment to the contractor to enable him complete the little portion that was left of the road.
Abe said unfortunately,divine providence was against him (Wike) and would continue to be against him as PDP lost in Edo State,thereby frustrating his intentions in Gokana LGA.
He said while this happened that he(Abe) had a joyful political rally in Andoni Local Government Area.
"He was thinking he would be in Gokana and they will announce the results of Edo and he will be dancing there. He set up his canopy and we took our own canopy to Andoni land. Both of us were waiting for the news and what was the news? APC won. God will continue to disgrace them. He goes about lying,deceiving people,causing violence, wasting money. Money that we could have used to pay salaries,work on the Obolo road,pay pensions of Rivers people,he packed all the money to Edo state and went to Gokana to go and wait for the result. He doesn't know that the things that God can do,money cannot undo them.
"My problem with the Governor is that he plays politics with everything. He plays politics with education,health, politics with politics,roads etc. The reason he was in Gokana today is because he thought that the money they had sent to Edo will bring the result they anticipated. And so, he went to Gokana to go and celebrate over the victory that he thought he had paid for. He didn't know that the people of Edo state cannot be bought.
"If they want to reconstruct a road, is it on live television that you need to go and flag off the reconstruction of a road that is fully in use? He is playing politics with everything and as usual God in His infinite mercies has disgraced him and his politics today. So, the happiest group of Nigerians today is not the people of Edo State. It is the people of Rivers State who now know that it is possible to actually have a contest of PVC against PVC,not PVC against Ak47. And that in a contest of PVC against PVC,the All Progressives Congress (APC) will win".
The former Secretary to the Rivers State Government urged the people of Rivers South East Senatorial District to ignore the antics of Gov.Wike and continue to support APC in order to make a statement that they are solidly in appreciation of the UNEP report implementation in the district and other developmental projects they would benefit from APC.

PORT HARCOURT ULTRA-MODERN LAW CENTRE : DEEPENING THE RULE OF LAW
The Legal Profession in Rivers State is witnessing a historic rejuvenation, premised on the desire of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike to deepen the fundamentals of the rule of law and enhance the administration of justice.
This is necessary because the profession suffered untold assault for over two years under the immediate past administration in the state. The courts were closed and lawyers humiliated to the level of doing menial jobs to eke out a living. Therefore, Governor Wike has taken deliberate steps to rejig the legal profession and stabilise the judiciary. He has through good governance instituted a seamless succession scheme in the state judiciary and also granted it independence and financial autonomy . The courts are now open for all those who seek justice.
It was to this end that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on 29th February 2016 facilitated the commencement of the construction of the Ultra-Modern Port Harcourt Nigeria Bar Association ( NBA ) Law Centre to replace the Old NBA Law Centre, which was located at the State High Court complex. The Ground Breaking Ceremony for the New NBA Law Centre was performed by the immediate past NBA President, Mr Augustine Alegeh ( SAN ).
Governor Wike initiated the Ultra-Modern Port Harcourt NBA Law Centre to create space for the construction of more courtrooms at the State High Complex and to promote high level research amongst practicing lawyers in the state in a comfortable environment laced with state-of-the-art recreational facilities. This centre is also to equip lawyers with the necessary skills to promote human rights, rule of law which ultimately will further the course of good governance for the growth of Rivers State.
This facility which is the first of its kind in Nigeria in terms of sophistication, aesthetics and professional features has been constructed from start to finish within seven months by the Wike administration. It is worthy of mention that Governor Wike played a key rule in the funding of the old law centre where his named is inscribed as number 36 on the roll call of donors.
It is a three storey structure with a 1200 sitting capacity auditorium and multi-purpose hall that runs through the first and second floors. No other Law Centre in the country has such sitting capacity.
Other key features of the imposing edifice include: Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre, Human Rights General office, Senior Lawyers Lounge, Junior Lawyers Lounge, Offices, Cafeteria, Kitchen, Changing Rooms for Male and female lawyers and ICT/Server Room.
The New NBA Law Centre also has an adjoining outdoor park where lawyers and their friends can enjoy recreational activities under a serene atmosphere. This facility has an elevator and a security section equipped with modern gadgets to prevent crime.
The rule of law is the premise upon which any civilised society can rapidly develop. Governor Wike is raising the bar and creating new standards for other states to follow. The Ultra-Modern Port Harcourt NBA Law Centre will ensure sustainability in the promotion of the rule of law in Rivers State.
This landmark facility will be commissioned on Tuesday, 4th October, 2016 and it will be on stream for legal practitioners to enjoy a new lease of life in their practice.

A group of heavily armed kidnappers Thursday night abducted Margaret Emefiele, the wife of Nigeria's Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele. A source close to Mr. Emefiele said Mrs. Emefiele was kidnapped along the Benin-Agbor Road.
