Psalm 4- 1
- Psalm 4 For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm of David.
- 1
- Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; be merciful to me and hear my prayer.
- 2
- How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame [1] ? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods [2] ? Selah
- 3
- Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD will hear when I call to him.
- 4
- In your anger do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. Selah
- 5
- Offer right sacrifices and trust in the LORD.
- 6
- Many are asking, "Who can show us any good?" Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD.
- 7
- You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound.
- 8
- I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
Psalm 2- 1
- Psalm 2
- 1
- Why do the nations conspire [1] and the peoples plot in vain?
- 2
- The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the LORD and against his Anointed One. [2]
- 3
- "Let us break their chains," they say, "and throw off their fetters."
- 4
- The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.
- 5
- Then he rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,
- 6
- "I have installed my King [3] on Zion, my holy hill."
- 7
- I will proclaim the decree of the LORD: He said to me, "You are my Son [4] ; today I have become your Father. [5]
- 8
- Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.
- 9
- You will rule them with an iron scepter [6] ; you will dash them to pieces like pottery."
- 10
- Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth.
- 11
- Serve the LORD with fear and rejoice with trembling.
- 12
- Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
Psalm 5- 1
- Psalm 5 For the director of music. For flutes. A psalm of David.
- 1
- Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my sighing.
- 2
- Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray.
- 3
- In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.
- 4
- You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil; with you the wicked cannot dwell.
- 5
- The arrogant cannot stand in your presence; you hate all who do wrong.
- 6
- You destroy those who tell lies; bloodthirsty and deceitful men the LORD abhors.
- 7
- But I, by your great mercy, will come into your house; in reverence will I bow down toward your holy temple.
- 8
- Lead me, O LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies-- make straight your way before me.
- 9
- Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with destruction. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongue they speak deceit.
- 10
- Declare them guilty, O God! Let their intrigues be their downfall. Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you.
- 11
- But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.
- 12
- For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.
Psalm 13- 1
- Psalm 13 For the director of music. A psalm of David.
- 1
- How long, O LORD? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?
- 2
- How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and every day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me?
- 3
- Look on me and answer, O LORD my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death;
- 4
- my enemy will say, "I have overcome him," and my foes will rejoice when I fall.
- 5
- But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.
- 6
- I will sing to the LORD, for he has been good to me.
Psalm 3- 1
- Psalm 3 A psalm of David. When he fled from his son Absalom.
- 1
- O LORD, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me!
- 2
- Many are saying of me, "God will not deliver him." Selah [1]
- 3
- But you are a shield around me, O LORD; you bestow glory on me and lift [2] up my head.
- 4
- To the LORD I cry aloud, and he answers me from his holy hill. Selah
- 5
- I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the LORD sustains me.
- 6
- I will not fear the tens of thousands drawn up against me on every side.
- 7
- Arise, O LORD! Deliver me, O my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked.
- 8
- From the LORD comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people. Selah
Psalm 8- 1
- Psalm 8 For the director of music. According to gittith. [1] A psalm of David.
- 1
- O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.
- 2
- From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise [2] because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.
- 3
- When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
- 4
- what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?
- 5
- You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings [3] and crowned him with glory and honor.
- 6
- You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet:
- 7
- all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field,
- 8
- the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.
- 9
- O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
Psalm 65- 1
- Psalm 65 For the director of music. A psalm of David. A song.
- 1
- Praise awaits [1] you, O God, in Zion; to you our vows will be fulfilled.
- 2
- O you who hear prayer, to you all men will come.
- 3
- When we were overwhelmed by sins, you forgave [2] our transgressions.
- 4
- Blessed are those you choose and bring near to live in your courts! We are filled with the good things of your house, of your holy temple.
- 5
- You answer us with awesome deeds of righteousness, O God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas,
- 6
- who formed the mountains by your power, having armed yourself with strength,
- 7
- who stilled the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the turmoil of the nations.
- 8
- Those living far away fear your wonders; where morning dawns and evening fades you call forth songs of joy.
- 9
- You care for the land and water it; you enrich it abundantly. The streams of God are filled with water to provide the people with grain, for so you have ordained it. [3]
- 10
- You drench its furrows and level its ridges; you soften it with showers and bless its crops.
- 11
- You crown the year with your bounty, and your carts overflow with abundance.
- 12
- The grasslands of the desert overflow; the hills are clothed with gladness.
- 13
- The meadows are covered with flocks and the valleys are mantled with grain; they shout for joy and sing.
