Ondo APC Exco Asks Court To Stop Kekemeke From Parading Himself As State Chairman

The State Executive Committee (SEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has approached a Federal High Court in Abuja to request an order of interlocutory injunction restraining Mr. Isaac Kekemeke from parading himself as the Chairman of the party in the State.

In an originating summons, the SEC insisted that Mr. Kekemeke is no longer the APC Chairman in the State, having been removed from office by a two-thirds majority of the SEC members.

Mr. Kekemeke's removal, the SEC said, was consequent upon the 18 August 2016 resolution reached by the SEC. The resolution, the SEC added, was premised upon Article 17 (v) & (vi) and Article 21 of APC Constitution of 2014 (as amended).
The originating summons list, as plaintiffs, Abayomi Adesanya (Publicity Secretary), Olutayo Babalayo (Youth Leader), Daoudu Bolakale (Chairman, Akoko North West) and all members of the SEC.

The defendants are the APC, Mr. Kekemeke, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Inspector-General of Police and the Director-General of the Department of State Security.

In the matter (Suit No.FHC/ABJ/CS/643/2016), the plaintiffs are asking the court to compel Mr. Kekemeke to hand over all the properties of the party to his deputy, Ade Adetimehin (now acting Chairman), having been removed from office.

They are also seeking an injunction restraining Mr. Kekemeke from taking any disciplinary action against SEC members.

Similarly sought are orders restraining INEC from dealing with Mr. Kekemeke as Chairman and asking the Inspector-General of Police as well as the Director-General of the Department of State Security to provide adequate security for the acting Chairman of the party.
