Owners of buildings and structures, marked for demolition to give way for roads construction in Onna Local Government Area, have been paid compensation by the State government.
However, properties affected were duly assessed by private and government valuers and the owners have been paid.
Speaking with Journalists on Wednesday afternoon at the venue of the payment, the Village Head of Ikot Akpan Eshiet and his counterpart in Afaha Ubium, thanked the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, for the developmental projects across the State as well as timely payment of compensation.
The State Commissioner for Works, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang, who personally ensured that the process went on smoothly, however, advised affected persons to utilise the money given to them judiciously, especially those living in family houses.
Those who received compensations were; AWA village, Ikot Akpan Eshiet Village and Afaha Ubium village all in Onna LGA.
