This Military Siege on Umunwelile Community in Etche LGA, Rivers State
On Wednesday, 23rd August 2018, several armed soldiers allegedly led by Major Nasiru, from Garrison Command, 6Division, Bori Camp, Portharcourt in Rivers State, invaded Umunwelile Community, brutalized, dehumanized, wounded and comprehensively devastated the vulnerable and harmless indigenous members of the town.
The community leaders have sent several formal complaints to relevant authorities, including, but not limited to the Presidency and the Governor of Rivers State.
What's the problem?According to report,soldiers have decided to forcefully takeover their communal land by force of arms without due process.
