Today's prayer: Deliver me from my enemies, O God; be my fortress against those who are attacking me

Psalm 59

Deliver me from my enemies, O God;

be my fortress against those who are attacking me.

Deliver me from evildoersy

and save me from those who are after my blood.z

See how they lie in wait for me!

Fierce men conspirea against me

for no offense or sin of mine, Lord.

I have done no wrong,b yet they are ready to attack me.c

Arise to help me; look on my plight!d

You, Lord God Almighty,

you who are the God of Israel,e

rouse yourselff to punish all the nations;g

show no mercy to wicked traitors.c h

They return at evening,

snarling like dogs,i

and prowl about the city.

See what they spew from their mouthsj

the words from their lips are sharp as swords,k

and they think, “Who can hear us?”l

But you laugh at them, Lord;m

you scoff at all those nations.n

You are my strength,o I watch for you;

you, God, are my fortress,p

10 my God on whom I can rely.

God will go before me

and will let me gloat over those who slander me.

11 But do not kill them, Lord our shield,d q

or my people will forget.r

In your might uproot them

and bring them down.s

12 For the sins of their mouths,t

for the words of their lips,u

let them be caught in their pride.v

For the curses and lies they utter,

13 consume them in your wrath,

consume them till they are no more.w

Then it will be known to the ends of the earth

that God rules over Jacob.x

14 They return at evening,

snarling like dogs,

and prowl about the city.

15 They wander about for foody

and howl if not satisfied.

16 But I will singz of your strength,a

in the morningb I will sing of your love;c

for you are my fortress,d

my refuge in times of trouble.e

17 You are my strength, I sing praise to you;

you, God, are my fortress,

my God on whom I can rely.

Today's prayer: Be merciful to me, my God, for my enemies are in hot pursuit; all day long they press their attack

Psalm 56

For the director of music. To the tune of “A Dove on Distant Oaks.” Of David. A miktam. When the Philistines had seized him in Gath.

1 Be merciful to me, my God, for my enemies are in hot pursuit; all day long they press their attack. 2 My adversaries pursue me all day long; in their pride many are attacking me. 3 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. 4 In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? 5 All day long they twist my words; all their schemes are for my ruin. 6 They conspire, they lurk, they watch my steps, hoping to take my life. 7 Because of their wickedness do not let them escape; in your anger, God, bring the nations down. 8 Record my misery; list my tears on your scroll — are they not in your record? 9 Then my enemies will turn back when I call for help. By this I will know that God is for me. 10 In God, whose word I praise, in the LORD, whose word I praise— 11 in God I trust and am not afraid. What can man do to me? 12 I am under vows to you, my God; I will present my thank offerings to you. 13 For you have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.

Today's bible teaching: The Lord redeems the soul of His servants, and none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned.

PSALM 34

The Happiness of Those Who Trust in God

A Psalm of David aWhen He Pretended Madness Before Abimelech, Who Drove Him Away, and He Departed.

1 I will bbless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

2 My soul shall make its boast in the Lord;

The humble shall hear of it and be glad.

3 Oh, magnify the Lord with me,

And let us exalt His name together.

4 csought the Lord, and He heard me,

And delivered me from all my fears.

5 They looked to Him and were radiant,

And their faces were not ashamed.

6 This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him,

And saved him out of all his troubles.

7 dThe 1angel of the Lord eencamps all around those who fear Him,

And delivers them.

8 Oh, ftaste and see that the Lord is good;

gBlessed is the man who trusts in Him!

9 Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints!

There is no 2want to those who fear Him.

10 The young lions lack and suffer hunger;

hBut those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.

11 Come, you children, listen to me;

iI will teach you the fear of the Lord.

12 jWho is the man who desires life,

And loves many days, that he may see good?

13 Keep your tongue from evil,

And your lips from speaking kdeceit.

14 lDepart from evil and do good;

mSeek peace and pursue it.

15 nThe eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,

And His ears are open to their cry.

16 oThe face of the Lord is against those who do evil,

pTo 3cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

17 The righteous cry out, and qthe Lord hears,

And delivers them out of all their troubles.

18 rThe Lord is near sto those who have a broken heart,

And saves such as 4have a contrite spirit.

19 tMany are the afflictions of the righteous,

uBut the Lord delivers him out of them all.

20 He guards all his bones;

vNot one of them is broken.

21 wEvil shall slay the wicked,

And those who hate the righteous shall be 5condemned.

22 The Lord xredeems the soul of His servants,

And none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned.
