According to the country's health Minister, Felix Kabange Numbi, the country is the first country outside the West African region to record Ebola cases.
"The results are positive. The Ebola virus is confirmed in DRC."
In a related news,29-yr old nurse William Pooley who tested positive for the virus in Sierra Leone has been flown back to UK on a RAF jet. He is currently in an isolation unit at the Royal Free Hospital in north London.
