OPERATION PUFF ADDER: BAUCHI STATE POLICE COMMAND ARRESTED ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY FIVE (185) SUSPECTS IN CONNECTION WITH ARMED ROBBERY, KIDNAPPING AND OTHER HEINOUS CRIMES
INCLUDING TWO (2) SUSPECTS RESPONSIBLE FOR RECENT ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY AT SHAFA FILLING STATION ALONG BAUCHI- JOS ROAD AND ANOTHER TWO (2) WHO PERSONATE HIS EXCELLENCY THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF BAUCHI STATE AND DEFRAUDED INNOCENT MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC IN THE NAME OF PAYMENT FOR HAJJ 2019

Good afternoon Gentlemen of the press
It is my pleasure to welcome you to this press briefing today 30th September, 2019 at Nigeria Police Force, State Headquarters, Bauchi and thank you for your continuous support to the Command.
This press briefing is to update you on the feat so far achieved in the ongoing fight against crime and criminality under the special operation code name Operation Puff Adder.
So far, the Command tactical teams attached to Operation Puff Adder have between the months of August and September, 2019 arrested one hundred and eighty five (185) suspects in connection with armed robbery, kidnapping, cattle rustling, Babeli activities, vandalism and theft of electric cable, dealing with counterfeit currency, cultivation of weeds suspected to be cannabis/ Indian hemp, criminally changing IMEI numbers of stolen/robbed cell phones and other heinous crimes in Bauchi state.
The suspects include two (2) suspects responsible for many robbery cases including the recent attempted armed robbery at Shafa filling station along Bauchi- Jos road and another two (2) suspects who personate His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Sen, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed and defrauded innocent members of the public the sum of thirty seven million naira (N37, 000,000:00) in the name of payment for 2019 Hajj pilgrimage. One of the suspects by name Sukni Zakka acted as the personal assistant (PA) to the governor while the other Iliyasu Ibrahim alias Du acted as the governor during phone conversation. The impostor PA usually lured his unsuspecting victims and defrauds them by putting a call to the impostor governor which in return answered the call and assured them a Hajj slot.
Out of one hundred and eighty five (185) suspects arrested, one hundred and thirty eight (138) were charged to court while fourty seven (47) are still in the Command custody undergoing investigation.
During the operations the Command equally recovered the following exhibits:
i. Firearms recovered: Four (4) AK-47 rifles, one (1) pistol, One (1) locally made sub machine gun and seventeen other (17) assorted firearms
ii. Sixty five (65) live ammunition
iii. Five (5) cartridges
iv. Six (6) pellets
v. Fourty two (42) machetes
vi. Four (4) motor vehicles
vii. Eight (8) motorcycles
viii. One (1) tricycle  (KEKE NAPEP)
ix. Forty five thousand 45,000 liters of petroleum products
x. Nine thousand (9000) meters of aluminum conductor valued about three million and five hundred thousand naira (N3,500,000:00)
xi. Twenty six (26) International Passports
xii. Application forms in to Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps
xiii. Bunch of assorted charms
xiv. One hundred and fifty two (152) pieces of 100 note counterfeits US Dollars and 43 pieces of 1000 & 500 note counterfeits Nigerian Naira
xv. Two (2) computer laptops
xvi. Thirty eight (38) GSM handsets
xvii. Large quantity of harvested weeds suspected to be cannabis / Indian hemp.
xviii. Two hundred and eight 208 cows and 21 sheep
Finally, the Command while appreciating the members of the public for their support and cooperation in the on-going fight against crime and criminality in the State, it wishes to assure the general public that, it will not relent in performing its statutory responsibility of protection of lives and property of all citizen, as it appeals for more useful information that will lead to achieving its onerous task in the maintenance of peace in Bauchi state.
