UCL Round of 16 fixtures

Arsenal have been drawn against their nemesis Bayern Munich yet again after the UEFA Champions League (UCL) draw held on Monday in Switzerland.

Holders Real Madrid will face AS Napoli in a bid to become the first clubside to retain the UCL trophy while rivals Barcelona were handed a tough draw against French champions Paris Saint Germain (PSG).

The Gunners topped their group for the first time since the 2011/12 season, but now take on one of European football’s powerhouse clubs, who finished second in theirs behind Atletico Madrid.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, who finished second in their group behind Barcelona, were handed a favourable draw against French side Monaco. Leicester, in their first Champions League season, take on Sevilla. The Gunners won 2-0 at the Emirates but were humbled 5-1 in the Allianz Arena in the return match, as both sides progressed from the group.

“We thought it happen, but to keep it in context we’ve qualified for this stage in each of the last 14 seasons, although fans will think we’ve got the rough end of the draw,” Arsenal’s club secretary David Miles said as he represented the club at the draw.

Away from the English representatives, champions Real Madrid take on Napoli, while Barcelona take on Paris Saint-Germain over two legs. Benfica face Borussia Dortmund, Porto face Juventus and Bayer Leverkusen were drawn with last season’s finalists, Atletico Madrid.

The first leg of the Round of 16 ties will come up on February 14/15 and February 21/22 while second leg take place on March 7/8 and March 14/15.
