Gov Umahi’s Company Denies Sealing Of Properties By EFCC

The media aid to the executive director, Brass Group of companies, Mr. Ifeanyi Chike on Thursday described as unfortunate and unwarranted media report alleging that the anti graft agency, Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) sealed properties belonging to the company over alleged N400 million arms deal.

In a statement signed by the Media aid and made available to LEADERSHIP, the company expressed regret over the alleged sealing of the properties of the Ebonyi State governor, Chief David Umahi insisting the allegation was a figment of the reporters imagination.

According to him; nothing can be farther from the truth except the writers have a different meaning for the words “sealed off”.

“Going by the definitions of sealed off, the company is made to feel that the publications were sponsored ostensibly by people who are in the opposition to tarnish the hard-earned reputation of Governor Umahi and pull down his administration”.

“It is ironical that those who claimed to have visited Osborn La-palm & Brass filling stations said that activities were going on as usual, the same time, deceived the public by captioning their stories with false and alarming headlines”.

Mr. Chike stated that the deceptive headlines simply gave the impression that Governor Umahi’s business concerns were sealed off by the anti graft agency.

“While we are not disputing the fact that the EFCC pasted a sign “under investigation” on the buildings, we wonder why something that happened a month ago is being reported now if not to prove to the sponsors of the publication that they had delivered”.

“Nothing is different from what the public is already abreast of.  We therefore frown at the attempt to smear the image of Governor David Umahi”.

He wondered why Governor Umahi is still being linked to a business concerns he divested his interests before he was elected Deputy Governor in 2011 adding that the properties were built long before the Governor came into public office and therefore predates 2015 general elections.

The company therefore urge the general public to disregard the publication.

“The truth is that none of the properties mentioned was sealed off by EFCC.  Business activities are going on there as usual”.

Mr. Chike noted that Osborn La-Palm and Brass filling stations are not political organisations and did not directly or indirectly got involved in the 2015 election fund.

“The MD of the group is a private businessman, who, at no time participated in the ex-President Goodluck Jonathan campaigns and therefore never took part in the sharing or spending of the controversial campaign funds”.

“If the EFCC feels that Goodluck Jonathan campaign organisation made a financial donation to the Ebonyi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party and wants to know how it was used, they should ask the right people”.

“Notwithstanding, the hard truth is that no candidate ever contested election without donations from individuals, groups or associations, not even President Buhari”.
